The probable founder of the town was the cloister in Vilemov. Considering the position, close to the wade on the Chrudimka river, Kamenice was a common administrative, business and maybe even defensive medieval settlement. From this time the first reference about the pond fortress Kamence under Zeleny Tabor originates. The centre of Trhova Kamenice is quite large with the rectangular square of compact set of Classicist build-up area. In the upper part there is a dominant of the church of St. Flip and St. Jakub.
